Frequently Asked Questions
What age can children start dancing? We welcome children from age 3 into our Primary classes, where little ones explore tap, ballet, and modern in a fun, nurturing environment. There is no upper age limit — we have students from age 3 all the way through to seniors. If you are unsure which class is right for your child, get in touch and we will point you in the right direction.
How often is payment made? Payment is made on a half-termly period via BACS transfer.
What will my child wear to class? Dance kit varies by class — ballet students wear a leotard and ballet shoes, while tap and modern classes have their own footwear. When you enrol, we will send you the full kit list for your child's class so you know exactly what to get. You do not need to arrive on the first day fully kitted out; comfortable clothing and bare feet or socks are absolutely fine to start.
What should my child bring to class? A water bottle is the one essential. Beyond that, keep it simple — a small bag for their dance shoes once they have them, and anything they need for the journey. We will let you know if there is anything specific once you are enrolled.
Can my child join mid-term? Yes, we welcome new students throughout the year wherever there is space in a class. Your child will be placed in the group that suits their age and experience, and our teachers make sure every new joiner feels welcome from day one.
What happens on the first class? Your child will be greeted by their teacher and introduced to the rest of the group. The first session is all about settling in, joining in at their own pace, and having fun — there is no pressure to get everything right straight away. Parents are welcome to watch, and we are always on hand if you have questions.
Do you offer a free trial? Yes. Every new student is welcome to try a class before committing to enrolment. It is a great way for your child to get a feel for the studio, meet their teacher, and see whether they love it — which they usually do.
Are there exams or performances? We hold annual medal exams for students who would like to take them — these are optional and a wonderful way for children to mark their progress and build confidence. We also put on an annual show, which is a highlight of the year for students and families alike. Both are fully optional, and there is never any pressure to take part if your child is not ready.
Is the studio safe? What are your safeguarding policies? The safety and wellbeing of every child in our care is our highest priority. All of our teachers hold current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks, and we follow up-to-date safeguarding guidelines. If you have any questions about our policies, please do not hesitate to ask — we are always happy to talk them through.
How do I enrol my child? Enrolment is done online through our enrolment form, which you can find right here on the website. It takes just a few minutes to complete. Once we receive your form, we will be in touch to confirm your child's place and share everything you need for their first class.
